National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB builds on the Saab Automobile AB legacy of innovative power, quality, progressive design and a firm commitment to environmental and safety issues. Our aim is to be a front runner in the automotive industry, with focus on electric vehicles.

Research, development and manufacturing is a match between Swedish know-how in manufacturing and design and Japanese advanced technology. Research and development is conducted as a collaborative effort between Swedish, Japanese, and Chinese engineers.

Beijing National Battery Technology, a China based sister company of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, operates a manufacturing plant for electric vehicle batteries. These batteries are based on Japanese technology and have high energy density – currently rated at 146 Wh/kg.

The plant at Trollhättan is the main hub of National Electric Vehicle Sweden, including head office, research&development and manufacturing.

Owners and management

National Modern Energy Holdings Ltd. (NME Holdings Ltd.)

The 100% owner of National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB. NME Holdings Ltd. was founded in 2004 by main owner Kai Johan Jiang. The company is registered in the British Virgin Islands and managed from Hong Kong. NME Holdings is the majority owner of State Power Group, a Beijing based enterprise which has pioneered development of renewable, clean energy in China.

State Power Group is focused on alternative energy sources for China, based on highly efficient biofuel plants. The Group operates 30 biofuel power plants and is active as a technology developer in wind power, efficient energy storage, batteries for electric vehicles and biofuel boilers. The Group has approximately 8,200 employees.

Qingdao Qingbo Investment Co Ltd.

Through its investment company Qingdao Qingbo Investment Co, Ltd, the City of Qingdao has signed an agreement to acquire a 22 per cent share of NEVS. Qingdao Qingbo Investment Co Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Qingdao, dedicated to investments in environmentally sound enterprises. With a population of nine million, the City is a leading economic centre in the Shandong Province in Eastern China. The Port of Qingdao ranks as the seventh largest in the world.

The NEVS investment is an important step to secure the region’s access to electric vehicles, and to build an industrial structure where the vehicle industry, including EVs, is key for the future. As production at the Trollhättan plant will reach capacity, a complementary manufacturing facility will gradually be established in Qingdao.
